Seattle Trip To Visit AllRecipes.com

As an brand ambassador for AllRecipes.com I had the amazing opportunity to visit AllRecipes in Seattle, Washington June 26th-28th.

Thursday evening began with a tour of their spaces which was in a modern building on Pine Street in the heart of downtown Seattle. Their spaces span two floors of the building. The smiles on the AllRecipes teams faces stood out to me as they were all happy to be there. Touring the spaces the fun they have is very evident.

I also had the opportunity to meet many of the ladies that I have known through the recipe buzz for several years. It was a reunion of sorts.

Friday entailed participation in a focus group, a presentation showing an in depth look at AllRecipes and their statistics and our role with the company, social media information, and a video class with tips on filming and photography. Friday night ended with a rad party for the 15th Anniversary Celebration.

Here are the photos from the trip:

Happy 15th Anniversary AllRecipes!

Miss Modern

Recently we have been looking around at homes in our area. San Diego is a complicated city when it comes to real estate. Our city was hit hard by the real estate bubble and the prices which were overinflated to the extreme are continuing to drop. Luckily we avoided all of the real estate drama and have been patiently waiting out the market. I'm not sure how serious we are about purchasing a home right now, but we are looking.
With that said I recently visited new model homes in our area which quite modern and it makes me scream with delight. I truly have a modern flair. I couldn't help but taking photos of not only the homes and the materials but also some decorating ideas.

I went through nine, yes nine! different homes so you will see several kitchens, living spaces, etc.

Ready? Here we go on a photo tour...

Thankful Thursday

I am linking up here for Thankful Thursday!
Here are a few things that I am thankful for this week...

I'm thankful for a delicious dinner. I  made Fabulous Zucchini Grinders on AllRecipes.com
Turned out to be a fabulous sandwich as titled and a new keeper in my house!

If you are a Girl Scout thin mint fan and your freezer stash is gone until next year, then take yourself to the store and buy this limited edition candy bar. It tastes exactly like a thin mint! Needless to say I am thankful.

I scored a huge deal at the thrift store this week. These Paige denim shorts still sell in the stores for $129 MSRP but I only paid $5.99. Oh yeah! I also got this yellow and white shirt than I am totally in love with for $2.99 by Old Navy. My necklace is thrifted from last year for $1.00. I'm thankful for the fantastic thrift stores in my area.

I'm thankful I found a double strand necklace as they are difficult to find and it is my favorite color! It was at a consignment store for $12 but listed way too high, I was able to talk the owner into $8 for it.

Last but certainly not least, I am thankful for my daughter who is growing up before my eyes. This week I discovered her first loose tooth while helping her to floss her teeth. I had a moment of sadness but she is thrilled about this revelation.

Thrift Find of the Day

I stopped by this hole in the wall type consignment store today because they have a lot of costume jewelry. I rarely go in because they are quite pricey and there is no reason why they should be. With that said, I went anyways to see if I could find a treasure. I saw this turquoise plastic necklace and loved the double strands.

They don't neogiate on prices, but it was marked $12 and I offered them $8 instead and they agreed. I can easily pick up similar necklaces like this at Goodwill for $1.99 or $2.99 but besides the color I loved the double stands so I don't have to adjust where they fall throughout the day. So there you have it! My newest treasure and thrift find of the day!

My Weekend

Friday I drove up to my friend Maggie's house so we could catch up and let our best freind daughter's have some playtime. Mag introduced me to the "orange julius" last year. I came up with my own version of it and brought up the ingredients to make us one.

She cut me some fresh lavender from her sea of lavendar plants she has in the front yard. Talk about fragrance! Wow! The wonderful smell hits you as soon as you open the car door.

I brought home the fresh cut lavender and flowers she cut and put them in my kitchen to enjoy!

We also went to Old Town, although I think that was on Thursday. I tried out the Caramel Latte from the Old Town San Diego Coffee and Tea store. They have wonderful samples of cold tea and I am thinking of trying it out at home. I am not a cold tea person but I would like to give it a shot.

Alexa panning for gems. She found a lot of pretty rocks and pyrite in her pan and it only costs $4.00 at the gem store.

Saturday morning I decided to go to Target for a few grocery items and some white crates for the pantry. I am wearing my Merona (from Target) sandals and chambray dress and a Tory Burch bag.. Both Target items are still available in stores. Love. Love. Pocket Dresses!

Saturday morning I decided it was time to tidy up the pantry but that turned into emptying the pantry entirely and painting the shelves....? I know. I had a neurotic moment.

About those white crates. I had teal ones from last summer in my pantry but decided I liked the clean look of the white better hence my trip to Target. The durable plastic crates are only $3.49 each. I can use the teal ones in the garage for storage which I desperately need anyways.

Cleaning out the pantry allowed me to rearrange everything including the dishes.

Instead of tossing the onions into the corner like before, I set them neatly on a plate so I can see what I have. I found some really bad red onions that rolled behind my mixing bowls when I cleaned out the pantry this morning. Not cool.

I need to do a Trader Joes run, but this is what it looked like when I was done. Whew! It was worth it. That was my exciting weekend. Not really exciting at all, but thought I would share.
