Target Haul: Treat Yourself!

I normally don't buy much for myself...maybe something here and there but I love to browse around. Recently my sister came to visit us and I got a few things for myself at Target that I love but would typically pass up. I went to Target today and found a few more things that I couldn't live without and thought I would share my haul with you guys! I really need accessories, shoes, etc. but like I said I tend to pass them up until now...

Tip: Always check Target.com and click on their Coupon icon. There are 17 pages of coupons you can print from home at any time. I often find a few dollars of accessories, Mossimo, Merona, or apparel in general coupons. Today I printed off a coupon for buy one get one 50% off all shoes. Since I barely have any sandals and what I have are several years old I picked out new summer sandals for a total of $22.50 for two pairs.

These are Merona and come in 5 different colors. I picked out blue and they are normally priced $15.00.

I also picked out these, normally priced $14.99. They are a patent orange/coral color by Mossimo.

My sister bought me this nail polish when she was here. It is called "Something New" by Sally Hansen Diamond Strength. It is the same kinda neon orangey-coral color. This polish wears really well, no chipping!

These earrings are normally priced at $5.99 each but today I got them for $5. They have a large selection of earrings at 3 for $15 or $5 each. These are gold twisted with that same orangey-coral color.

I have been loving this hat for keep the sun off of my face. I bought it was $12.99 but this week it is on sale in the stores.

I became an EOS lip balm fan a few months ago and recently snatched up the Strawberry Sorbet flavor. I keep multiples of these all around the house and in my bag.

I commit to the same wallet and purse for a long time...I am talking anywhere from 1 or more years at a time. I have a similar wallet in a light aqua color that I have had for about 3 years that has seen its better days. I found this one at Target today to replace my old one.

Its perfect!

For some reason this photo refused to rotate for me. I got this statement necklace on clearance for $14.98. It was normally $30...one of those necklaces they keep in their small jewelry counter. It felt like a splurge to me even at the clearance price but it was the only one left and I absolutely loved it and have nothing like it. It is gold with three very light aqua stones.

Awesome makeup remover wipes in the travel section. Tip: Buy these...they have 10 wipes in a package for .99 cents each. Regular size packages of makeup remover wipes are pricey at $5-$6-$7+ her package. A regular package usually comes with 25-30 wipes but if you buy three packs of these you get 30 wipes for $2.97! I like these because they are super soft and fresh.

If you have a daughter check out the maxi dresses in the girls department. We got this maxi dress (it goes all the way to the floor) for $19.99 and it comes with a belt. My 6 year old is in love with maxi dresses and this has become her favorite. The best part is the straps are adjustable.

Adventuring Randoms

Here are some photos from the past two weeks! I have more to share in upcoming posts as I don't want to bombard you all at once.
We met Sully at Disneyland and he was by far the coolest character yet. We went on a Thursday and I never seen so many characters at one time at Disneyland and California Adventure...they were everywhere!

My sister came to visit for 10 days so we had to take her to Disneyland. I went on the Hollywood Tower of Terror with her. It was only my second time and quite terrifying, although not as bad as the first time. The anticipation of the drop eats at me while we wait in line and as we board the ride.

Just my cat looking cute on the couch.

I made my Cinnamon Espresso Chocolate Chip Cookies this week while my sister was here. I like to make the cookies large by using about 1/2 cup of dough rolled into a ball. I get eight very large cookies out of the batch by doing this.

Yogurtland love. This place is the best! Mine is the lower one...I like to get several flavors and cover them in chocolate sauce.

My sister works at Starbucks and she taught me how to make my cold chai into a dirty chai. It is so easy but I had no idea that a dirty chai is a chai with a shot of espresso!

Yes....more fro-yo. This time we went to a local place to try out their frozen yogurt flavors.

My fabulous Home Goods haul that brought me much excitement. I fell in love with the pillow until I got home and discovered the front from coming apart in three different places and with use and time it would totally come apart so I had to return it. Unfortunately it was the only one they had.

My sister hasn't had the pleasure of walking through an IKEA yet, so we went. We both love this really long white desk and it also has hidden rollers underneath and can roll over your bed creating a workspace. It was perfect for her as a college student getting ready to move out for the first time this summer.

She loved this purple bedding.

This is my IKEA haul.....nothing too exciting. They had sets of the jars $3.99 for 4. I ended up putting rubber bands, paper clips, etc. in them, but they are intended for kitchen use. You can get really creative with them. I also purchase a 2 pack of magazine holders for $4.99. I put my cookbooks in them and tucked them into the pantry for a clean look.

Excuse the terrible dressing room lighting. I branched out while my sister was here and bought these black flowy short with scalloped details at the hem. They were already marked down and got to take an additional 30% off so they were $13.

Me and my girls at home....

Peanut Butter Treasure Cookie Dough (recipe can be found in the previous post) that my sister and I devoured late at night while we played juvenile board games. Games are the best.

Me along the Pacific Ocean.

I also branched out and bought this maxi skirt at Old Navy with my sister. I have already worn it three times and I am loving it!

Tried something new at a local place called Chi Chocolat. These actually scoop melted chocolate out of their tempering machines to make lattes and mochas. I tried the spicy mocha and it ended up having both chili and black pepper in it and was a tad on the hot side.

Checking out Cost Plus World Market I spied some aqua blue kitchen treasures. I ended up passing because I wanted to buy several of these containers but they were $4.99 each and that adds up quickly. Instead I bought these!

My sister loved this couch, it was so cute and full of character!

Each button was covered in a different fabric.

I also found a table I liked at World Market. The top was grayish black and reminded me of a chalk board. I couldn't tell if it was metal or some other material.

That's all for now! I will be sharing more photos soon!

Peanut Butter Treasure Cookie Dough

I wanted to whip up a quick and easy treat while my sister was visiting from another state one evening. I decided to throw together this eggless and baking soda and powderless recipe. You can use this as a dip and serve with graham crackers or you can eat it straight with spoons like we did.  :)

I now present to you my Peanut Butter Treasure Cookie Dough!

Peanut Butter Treasure Cookie Dough

1/3 Cup White Granulated Sugar

1 Teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract

1 Cup Flour

1/3 Cup Creamy Peanut Butter

1/3 Cup Heavy Cream

1/2 Cup Milk Chocolate Chips

3 Tablespoons Oats

1/2 Cup Peanut Butter M&M's

Sprinkle Ground Cinnamon

Directions:

1.) In a mixing bowl cream butter and sugar. Stir in vanilla and salt.

2.) Sift flour and mix. Once flour is incorporated, stir in peanut butter.

3.) Slowly begin mixing in heavy cream.

4.) Add in the goodies! Stir in milk chocolate chips, oats, M&M's.

5.) Add a sprinkle of ground cinnamon on top and serve or covered tightly and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Peanut Butter Oreo Cups

recently came across this picture on Pinterest. You are looking at a full size Reese's Cup sandwiched between a double stuffed Oreo then dipped into chocolate.

I made mine using milk chocolate melted with peanut butter. The peanut butter helps the chocolate set more quickly since I didn't plan on tempering my chocolate for these.

First you sandwich the full size Reese's Cup between a double stuffed Oreo, then cover in chocolate.

Set aside on a sheet of wax paper and allow to dry. I let mine set out for 15 minutes then popped them into the fridge so they would firm up the rest of the way faster.

This is what they will look like but the inside is much prettier...

They are a mouthful so I encourage you to slice them open. I like doing this because I love seeing the gorgeous layers of pure sweetness.

I had some leftover chocolate so I tossed some flavored espresso beans and white chocolate chips in to make some bark.

Pure deliciousness.

Sweet Treat Idea List for Mom

Mother's Day is next week on May 13th. Here is a list of sweet treats I have whipped up in my kitchen in the past that may help to give you ideas if you are looking for a sweet treat to present to your mom! These are Vanilla Butternut Pecan Truffles dipped into tempered milk chocolate.

These are Key Lime Truffles made the same way as the Vanilla Butternut, just with Key Lime oil in place of the nuts and Vanilla Butternut. They are also dipped into tempered milk chocolate.

Have an ice cream maker? Break it out and put it to use! There are a lot of creamy ice cream recipes out there waiting to be made. You can package it up nicely in a container and take it to Mom! If she needs any bowls or dessert cups you could package it up together! This photo above is Richer Than German Chocolate Ice Cream.

This is a recipe I put together in a springform pan using a homemade Oreo crust, chocolate and whipped cream base that I froze together. Decorate the top by piping some extra homemade whip and adding cherries for color and interest (and to eat!) Serve frozen.

This is my Mom's favorite. It is the Caramel Macchiato Cheesecake on AllRecipes.com

Don't forget the homemade Whipped Cream! It is very easy to make! I serve this on top of the Caramel Macchiato Cheesecake with caramel.

Is Mom coming over to your place? Serve this Chocolate Pizza straight out of the oven. It will likely be a conversational piece. Who knew about Chocolate Pizza?

I like to fall back onto my signature recipe and the first one of mine that AllRecipe published, the MySweetCreations Peanut Butter Cookie Pie.  I do admit that I now make this with homemade whip in place of Cool Whip and wish I would have written the recipe to reflect that. Make sure you serve it with extra Reese's, chocolate and caramel sauces on top. I also add a side of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

How about these Chai Latte Muffins? It has been a while since I made these but I still remember how delicious they were. Serve with an extra drizzle of caramel and sprinkle of cinnamon/nutmeg on top.

Go easy with Peanut Butter Gem Squares. They are basically cookie bars of the peanut butter and M&M variety. Decorate with extra goodies on top if you want! I lightly press the M&M's onto the dough just before baking.

Whoopie Pies are fun, but best made and consumed the day they are made.

I can't tell you how many times I have made the Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie. It is also one of my favorite recipes to fall back on when all else fails. A couple of tips if you want yours to taste like a "mall cookie"is to decorate it using homemade buttercream and store bought rich chocolate icing.

Guaranteed everyone will swoon over this dessert. The Buster Bar Dessert tastes just like Dairy Queen's Peanut Buster Parfait. I made this using homemade vanilla ice cream and whip. Seeing this photo makes me want to make this again.

Simple yet delicious....Marshmallow Pops. Stick a lollipop stick through a marge marshmallow (they even make jumbo ones now) and dip into the chocolate of your choice. Roll them into a variety of sprinkles or topping such as coconut, nuts, cookie crumbs, etc.

Classic Red Velvet Cake.

This is my twist on one of those Snickers and apple salads. Try my Delicious Candy Apple Salad.

Monogram your Chocolate Cookie Cheesecake. This is another of my Mom's favorite sweet treat recipes. I make this for her each year when I visit during the summer.

This is the MySweetCreations Peanut Butter Cookie Pie recipe with a brownie bottom in place of the Oreo crust. I drizzle this with chocolate sauce and melted peanut butter.

Keep it easy and dip fortune cookies into white chocolate or candy melts! Wrap them up in a clear cellophane bag with a ribbon.

Seriously....who doesn't love cookie dough? Try this Eggless Cookie Dough.

Take it a step further and dip your cookie dough into tempered milk chocolate to create a Cookie Dough Truffle.
