What did you make this week?

Meet My Cat.

I just wanted to share some photos of our pet. She is a 6 year old tortieshell cat that I adopted from the Humane Society when she was 4 months old. I got this cat before I had a child, so I named her Haylee (Hailey).

I bought this car seat earlier this year and as soon as I pulled it out of the box Haylee crawled into it and took a nap.

I actually took the rest of these photos this morning. We had some rare October rain in San Diego this morning. After the rain stopped and the sun came out, Haylee went outside to the patio to curl up in the warm sun. She looked so cute out there and I couldn't resist taking her picture.

You have to know that this cat is really special to me. I love cats. She is very vocal one. She follows me from room to room all day. She takes a nap when we do and she also goes to bed when we do. In fact, she curls up n her cat bed for the entire night and doesn't move until we get up. She lays on my books when I am reading, she lays on my laptop when I am working on it. Maybe that is because I carry this cat around off and on throughout the day? She loves to be held.

I just wanted to share my cat with everyone. She is very special to me.

Above is a photo of my Vanilla Syrup for Lattes. Using this syrup you won't need to purchase an expensive bottle of Starbucks or Torani syrups to make your favorite coffee or latte drink at home.
Vanilla Syrup for Lattes
1 Cup Water
1 1/3 C White Granulated Sugar
1 Tablespoon Pure Vanilla Extract
Place a saucepan on the stove on high heat. Immediately add water and sugar and whisk together on high heat until the sugar dissolves. Bring the mixture to a boil and turn down to medium heat for a few minutes while stirring. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
Allow the mixture to cool down before transferring to a container with lid.

Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Sundae

I went shopping with a couple of girlfriends a few days ago and we stopped at Baskin Robbins for ice cream. I actually have never been to Baskin Robbins before. I was overwhelmed by the choices of ice cream available. As I was searching the menu board, there was a delicious photo of peanut butter cup sundae. It was truly wonderful with its layers of creamy peanut butter, chocolate sauce, Reeses ice cream, chopped Reeses cups and whipped cream on top.

I recently bought another Kitchen-Aid mixer and I was eager to try it out. I haven't made homemade vanilla ice cream yet, so I decided to break out my ice cream attachment and I began to make homemade vanilla. The treat I had at Baskin Robbins the other day popped into my head while I was making the vanilla ice cream so and I decided to make it into Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream. I haven't had time to write out the recipe yet, but when I do I will share it. Here is a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Sundae that I made at home today!

Show Us Your Life : Kitchens

I am participating in Show Us Your Life : Kitchens
Here is mine:

I actually took this photo earlier this year. I often re-arrange the stuff on my kitchen counters. It looks the same for the most part. I am expecting a new addition tomorrow. I found a new Kitchen Aid Artisan Mixer in the Martha Stewart Aqua Blue color that you see in my accent pieces. Currently, I have a Green Apple one.

What I Made This Week

These are some of the things I have made this past week (or two)!
First up is gourmet caramel apples, my favorite. I am sorry, but I can't eat plain caramel apples anymore. Not when they can be dipped in milk chocolate with toppings! Above are caramel and milk chocolate dipped apples. One of them has candy coated chocolate chips while they other is my signature one with white chocolate melted with creamy peanut butter drizzled on it.

Mmmmm....gourmet grilled cheese. Roma tomatos sandwiched between baby swiss and white american cheeses. I also sprinkled some fresh cracked pepper in the middle too. Very flavorful, no need for ketchup with this.

This is Candy Corn Bark found on AllRecipes.com
I had to try it. I only made enough for a few pieces. It is indeed very sweet. I used Oreos, Brachs autumn mix, and pretzel M&Ms.

One of my favorite cookies but very time consuming. These are the Best Rolled Sugar Cookies and Sugar Cookie Icing found on AllRecipes.com
Thanks for checking out what I made this week. You can also find me on my YouTube Channel:

Kitchen Decorating

This is my "before" photo.

These are my "after" photos. I was in one of my neurotic cleaning frenzies this morning and I found this black shelf that hasn't been hung since 2007 in our Iowa home. I dusted it off and had my husband hang it for me this morning in the kitchen.

I like to keep my kitchen counters free of clutter and this shelf helped to free up a little space. I was able to move my plant and a framed picture to the shelf.

Check it out to see other before and after projects!

Gourmet Grilled Cheese

Gourmet Grilled Cheese

Grilled cheese doesn't have to boring and it isn't just for kids. I have always loved grilled cheese and I have mixed it up by using different bread or switching from yellow american cheese to white american cheese. I decided to take it a step further and make a hearty and savory grilled cheese for dinner. I used wheat bread, baby swiss and fresh white american cheese from the deli and roma tomatos inside my sandwich.
You can easily switch up the bread and cheeses to suit your taste buds. Add some spices too! You can be quite creative with grilled cheese! I put some fresh cracked pepper on my leftover tomato slices and eat them on the side. The tomato slices bring me back to my childhood when it was common in my family to have sliced tomatos with dinner with some salt or pepper sprinkled on them. Enjoy!
I have started "Sweet Sunday" in which you can link up using Mr. Linky with any sweet drinks, dessert, candy, bread, or baked goods. It is a place for those who love sweets to share!
