Homemade Marshmallows

Last night I was in the mood to bake something. It was one of those moods where I was looking to conquer something new that I haven't done before. I decided to pull out my Candymaking book by Ruth Kendrick. While flipping through the pages, the homemade marshmallow recipe caught my eye. Actually, the photo below caught my eye. I have an egg shaped candy mould to make impressions that are shown in the book, so I decided to give it a try.

I spooned my mixture from the recipe into the cavities I made in flour. After a couple of hours there were firm enough to handle. I dusted the sticky marshmallow with powdered sugar.

The following day I dipped them into tempered milk chocolate. They were delicious! The marshmallows are softer and tastier than marshmallows that you buy in the bags.

I also posted a video on YouTube which can be found here.

MySweetCreations Peanut Butter Cookie Pie

MySweetCreations Peanut Butter Cookie Pie

You can never go wrong with chocolate and peanut butter... your mouth watering yet?

I like to add extra sauce drizzled over my slice just before eating it.

I came up with this recipe the other evening. You can find my recipe here:

Show Us Your Dishes

This week at Kelly's Korner Blog she asked us to show our dishes.
Here are my dishes, which I are on a shelf in my kitchen pantry. My dishes are from Pier One Imports. The benefit of purchasing the dishes I got there is you buy each piece indivudually. That means that if you break a dish, all you need to do is head to the store and buy a new bowl or plate. You can never have enough place settings, so if you have people over for dinner and need another place setting, you can easily add to your set. Another benefit is Pier One always carries this line of dishes so you don't need to worry about them changing out your dishes.

I love plain white dishes. They show off your food great. I chose white dishes because I love to photograph my desserts and submit them to
You can find me on AllRecipes here: MySweetCreations

It is easy to mix and match other brands of white dishes. I love buying white serving platters, large serving bowls, and other various pieces.

I have a few glass pieces. The dessert glasses in the back are from Pier One as well as the glass carafe.

These fun pieces below are also from Pier One Imports. I got the wavy platter on clearance for $11. My next purchase is going to be tea cups with plates I found at Crate and Barrel that will match perfectly!

Party Favor Ideas

I just thought I would share some party favors I have used this past year for parties I have hosted.

I made fun cookie suckers or better known as playdough cookies for a friend's baby shower last year as the party favor.

I custom ordered stickers from a seller on eBay for the baggies. (I also ordered matching invitations and water bottle labels.) I wrapped them in Wilton baggies, tied with a bow.

For my daughter Alexa's 4th birthday this year I custom order full size candy bar wrappers. I wrapped Nestle Crunch Bars in them. I also ordered custom stickers and water bottle labels that matched. I tend to do this for all parties because it is fairly cheap and fun. It is a great way to tie in a theme.

You can see the matching stickers which I used to seal the cupcake boxes. I purchased these pink individual cupcake boxes from eBay.

I don't know about you, but my four year old loves the Pinkalicious books.
She was invited to a friend's birthday this weekend and I wasn't sure what to get the little girl who is turning three for her birthday. I knew that she loves books.

I also considered throwing Alexa a Pinkalicious Birthday Party earlier this year and when I was researching it, I came across the Official Pinkalicious Website.

So that means, I knew that Pinkalicious offered these great FREE printout pages for coloring and activities. I opted to go with another theme for Alexa's Birthday, but I remembered how neat the website and the freebies were.

When I decided to get Pinkalicious, which is only sold as a hardcover book, for the little girl's birthday present, I thought it would be cool to print out some coloring and activity pages and get a small box of crayons to include as the gift.

I just wanted to share as it is a fun way to add something extra for free to a birthday present. You can either tuck the pages into the present or roll them up and tie with a ribbon.

You can find the Pinkalicious here:
