Important Update: New Blog - Moving - New Link Inside...

Important Update:

I made some changes and wanted to share my new links for those who are interested.

Basically I changed my name from MySweetCreations to House of Aqua. I love making anything sweet but I also incorporate hauls, organization, etc. into my blog and YouTube Channel. I am also known for my love of aqua, especially in the kitchen. I often have people leaving comments saying they saw something aqua and thought of me so I thought the name was fitting and encompasses everything I do.

I was also annoyed that MySweetCreations was consistent across the board due to screen name availability such as MySweetCreations for Twitter, AllRecipes but the blog was TastingSweetCreations and my YouTubeChannel was MakingSweetCreations! Errrr...you see? I wanted something simple and available so House of Aqua it is!

If you enjoy my blogspot blog and YouTube Channel please make sure you subscribe using the links I provide below. I will maintain my previous blog and YouTube Channel but I will be phasing out posts to it as I am switching over.

Classic Sundae in Homemade Waffle Bowl

I was curious and the Homemade Ice Cream Cones I saw on AllRecipes.com a few days ago. My husband was watching the UFC fights on Saturday night, while I usually bake something and listen to Dave Ramsey on AM talk radio. I decided it would be fun to step out of my comfort zone and try something kind of off the wall...waffle cones.

After whipping up the batter I got started. Unless you have a waffle iron grid pattern on your pan, they won't look like your typical waffle cones. In my case I made bowls. This is what it looks like nearly done on the pan.

I found an upside down wine glass worked the best for me. This is what it will look like when you drape it one the glass.

Keep in mind it is pliable and piping hot right now! I ended up with 2 burned fingertips from this process. I found using a dry, clean paper towel worked best for handling and shaping the waffle bowls. You can either hold the paper towel like shown above...

...or you can hold it like this with you want a higher sides. You only need to hold it for a minute as they harden into shape within a few minutes.

This is what they look like before adding the good stuff.

For the classic sundae above I used homemade vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, fresh whipped cream, sprinkles, and of course a cherry on top!

Dole Whip

I recently discovered this sweet treat through Pinterest. It is called Dole Whip and it is found at certain places within Disneyland and DisneyWorld. By viewing the photo I could tell it is a killer combination. I searched several recipes and found some similarities. When in new territory I like to view several recipes to get a basic idea and then try it out for myself, creating as I go.

Here is how I made it:

Dole Pineapple Ice Cream:
1 Cup Heavy Cream
1/3 Cup White Granulated Sugar
1 6oz. can Dole Pineapple Juice
1 Teaspoon Fresh Lemon Juice

Whisk together the ingredients until sugar dissolves and it becomes frothy.

Refrigerate until well chilled and transfer to your ice cream maker and make according to its directions.

To assemble the Dole Whip, pipe some of the soft pineapple ice cream into the bottom of a cup. Pour pineapple juice over the ice cream until it nearly reaches the top of the rim. Pipe fresh whipped cream on top and enjoy!

It is every bit of creamy, tangy, and smooth I imagined it to be. The ice cream turned out beautifully!

Enjoy this refreshing treat!

Seattle Trip To Visit AllRecipes.com

As an brand ambassador for AllRecipes.com I had the amazing opportunity to visit AllRecipes in Seattle, Washington June 26th-28th.

Thursday evening began with a tour of their spaces which was in a modern building on Pine Street in the heart of downtown Seattle. Their spaces span two floors of the building. The smiles on the AllRecipes teams faces stood out to me as they were all happy to be there. Touring the spaces the fun they have is very evident.

I also had the opportunity to meet many of the ladies that I have known through the recipe buzz for several years. It was a reunion of sorts.

Friday entailed participation in a focus group, a presentation showing an in depth look at AllRecipes and their statistics and our role with the company, social media information, and a video class with tips on filming and photography. Friday night ended with a rad party for the 15th Anniversary Celebration.

Here are the photos from the trip:

Happy 15th Anniversary AllRecipes!

Miss Modern

Recently we have been looking around at homes in our area. San Diego is a complicated city when it comes to real estate. Our city was hit hard by the real estate bubble and the prices which were overinflated to the extreme are continuing to drop. Luckily we avoided all of the real estate drama and have been patiently waiting out the market. I'm not sure how serious we are about purchasing a home right now, but we are looking.
With that said I recently visited new model homes in our area which quite modern and it makes me scream with delight. I truly have a modern flair. I couldn't help but taking photos of not only the homes and the materials but also some decorating ideas.

I went through nine, yes nine! different homes so you will see several kitchens, living spaces, etc.

Ready? Here we go on a photo tour...
